Editorial base

Cochrane ENT's core editorial team are:

Professor Martin Burton, Joint Co-ordinating Editor, is Director of Cochrane UK, Professor of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Oxford and Consultant Otolaryngologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. 

Professor Anne Schilder, Joint Co-ordinating Editor, is NIHR Research Professor, Director of evidENT, UCL Ear Institute and Professor of Otorhinolaryngology at the UCL Ear Institute and University Medical Center Utrecht. Professor Schilder is also a Visiting Professor at Oxford University and Macquirie University, Sydney.

It is the responsibility of the Co-ordinating Editors to guarantee the overall functioning of Cochrane ENT. They must raise the resources necessary to establish a stable editorial base, and must have the necessary social, managerial, scientific and editorial skills to maintain the group.  They spend a significant amount of time supporting the Managing Editor and the rest of the Editorial Team in their work. 

Jenny Bellorini, Managing Editor

Jenny co-ordinates the editorial activities of Cochrane ENT and takes overall responsibility for the smooth running and output of the editorial base. She manages the editorial process for systematic reviews by advising, supporting and organising authors, managing our peer review and feedback processes, and editing/copy editing and submitting work for publication. She is involved in the development of Cochrane ENT standards, policies and guidance resources and the prioritisation of ENT reviews. She liaises with all of our stakeholders, contractors and funders and is the first point of contact for the group.

Samantha Cox, Information Specialist and Assistant Managing Editor

Sam provides advice and support to review authors on all aspects of search methodology. She prepares the search section in review protocols, including designing and testing search strategies, and she conducts the searches for all new reviews and review updates. In addition, Sam is responsible for maintaining and regularly updating a Specialised Register of clinical trials relating to ear, nose and throat disorders and head and neck cancers in the Cochrane Register of Studies and submitting these to CENTRAL. Sam also supports Jenny in co-ordinating the activities of Cochrane ENT. Sam also works one day a week for the Cochrane Central Executive Team, providing support to other Cochrane Information Specialists.
